I don't know how Ann Cleeves does it, she just gets better with each book and this one is the best Vera book so far. I must admit once I had started it I found it hard to put down, just when you think you have idea of the culprit, something happens to change your ideas. Brilliantly written, it holds your attention until the very last page. This is definitely one for all Ann Cleeves fans and she will make a lot more fans with this book.
Brilliant!

I am part way through this book and am finding it unputdownable! As usual, Ms Cleeves feeds us little snippets of information to lead us in the right direction ...... or up the garden path. The Holy Island setting is very atmospheric. I thoroughly recommend this book.
Absolutely Brilliant Read - Unputdownable.

I've always enjoyed the 'Vera' series on television. 'The rising tide' was a most enjoyable read, good murder mystery with Vera's quirkiness, I look forward to reading many more books by Ann Cleeves.
